Performance Team
Is your dancer looking for something beyond a weekly class? Are they itching to perform more than once a year? The Evergreen Dance Center Performance Team may be just what you’re looking for!
Evergreen Dance Center performance teams offer students the opportunity to gain additional performance experience and be a part of a dedicated group of dancers. In addition to weekly dance classes, dancers will attend 1-2 weekly Performance Team rehearsal classes. Auditions are scheduled each spring!
Performance Team is designed to give students who have a love and commitment to dance an opportunity to perform and compete. It was created so students could participate in local dance performances, dance conventions, competitions and workshops.
Auditions for Performance Team are held the spring before the school year begins. Auditions are typically held in May and practice begins the following September. If you’re interested in being notified when the next audition is coming up, follow our Instagram!
Dancers must be enrolled in regular dance classes at Evergreen Dance Center and must have at least one year of previous dance experience and performing. Performance Team rehearsals are a serious commitment and attendance is crucial! All absences must be excused and dancers are only allowed 4 absences the whole year. Students who drop out of performance team after the year begins may not be considered for acceptance the following year. This is a commitment to your team, so be sure you are ready for it.
The Performance Team class/rehearsal will be held on either Mondays from 7:30-8:30, Tuesdays from 7:15-8:015 or Fridays from 6:00-7:15 starting in August or September. All dancers MUST be available on those days! Most dancers will only rehearse one or two of those days, but this all depends on how many dances you are in. We also hold rehearsal the first Saturday of every month and sometimes over holiday breaks (Thanksgiving, spring break, Memorial Day etc.) A monthly rehearsal schedule will be sent out at the first of each month with the days your rehearsals are scheduled. Sample performance/event schedule of the year is below. Most performances and events throughout the year will be held on weekends, including Fridays. All performances, conventions and competitions are held within the state.
October: Weekend long Dance Convention (Fri/Sat/Sun)
November-December: Holiday community performances
January: Fundraisers
February-March: Possible Community performances and added rehearsal time/dress rehearsals April: Competitions
May: Competitions and EDC spring recital
- Tuition for class is $80 per month, paid to Evergreen Park and Recreation.
- Annual $80 annual Performance Team Fee – includes one costume, performance accessories and props
- Required team jacket – $110
- Convention fees are $350, plus hotel and food for the weekend
- Competition fees, per competition (we do 2 competitions)
– Group dances range from $70-$80
– Trio dances range from $80-$90
– Duet dances range from $80-$90
– Solo dances range from $140-$160
